Chichester Chiropractic Health Centre

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.

The aim of Acupuncture is to help restore the body’s energy balance and vitality, it achieves this by working on stimulating specific areas of the body, bringing it into better alignment.

At Chichester Chiropractic Health Centre, we offer two of the most common and effective forms of acupuncture – TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Five Element style, as well as electro-acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture.

TCM is well suited to treating a wide range of physical, mental and emotional symptoms; whereas the Five-Element style focuses primarily on treating the underlying constitution of the person, thereby bringing about profound changes in a person’s sense of well-being.

Acupuncture as a Pain Relief

Acupuncture has been proven as an effective means of treating all kinds of pain. It is a safe and natural alternative or addition to Western medical treatment. It can reduce both pain and swelling and is successful in treating pain no matter where it is in the body and whether it is acute or chronic.

Digestive Disorders

Acupuncture brings your digestion into balance, regulates your bowels and stomach acid secretion, increases gastrointestinal strength, and improves absorption of nutrients in the intestines. No matter what kind of digestive symptoms you experience, acupuncture can offer potent and effective relief.

Acupuncture and Massage

We are pleased to be able to offer unique treatments that combine acupuncture and massage during the same session. This combination of skills is very effective in treating stress related pain such as shoulder tension, frozen shoulder, tense neck and shoulder.

Your Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, you will be asked questions about your general health and the issues you would like to have addressed.

This involves asking questions about your current symptoms and your medical history, as well as such things as your sleeping pattern, your appetite and digestion, and your emotional wellbeing. Women are also asked about their menstrual cycle and any past pregnancies and childbirth.

You might feel that some questions appear unrelated to your condition but the information you give helps your practitioner to form a more complete picture of your health and lifestyle. We will will also take your pulse on both wrists and may examine your tongue and feel for areas of muscular tension or pain.

We will then select the most suitable acupuncture points for your condition.

Relax & Enjoy Your Treatment…

You then can completely relax for about 30mins whilst the treatment is under way. This is when most patients fall asleep and say they feel refreshed when they wake up. When your treatment is complete, you will be asked how you are feeling and from there your acupuncturist can decide if you need to have another appointment or not.
